Engineer R&D:
Plans and conducts research in field or specialization of an engineering discipline to discover facts, or performs research directed toward investigation, evaluation, and application of known engineering theories and principles. Evaluates findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes or to develop applications of findings to new uses. Designs and develops new products, as well as product changes and enhancements, in support of a company's strategic plan. Initiates and provides technical direction for research and development programs to enhance products and/or production methods and improve parts and equipment technology.

Establishes and maintains liaison between Engineering and other departments to formulate and apply design criteria and production requirements for proposed products. Solves minor problems at the component level. Conducts testing utilizing established test protocols. Demonstrates understanding of experimental design. Generates standard written reports. Works with Engineers and Supervisor in determining day-to-day tasks. Contributes to the intellectual property position of the company via invention and patent applications. Maintains accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes. Develops an understanding of competitive technologies in addition to technical developments related to company's products. Makes contacts with outside vendors and consultants as required. Establishes an understanding of company products and systems, including pre-production quality assurance procedures, pre-clinical testing programs, and post production compliance in coordination with the Quality Assurance functions. Works with the Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing, and Quality Assurance functions to coordinate pilot production of new products. Supports company goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and good manufacturing practices.
