Engineering Manager: Manages an engineering team consisting of engineers, scientists, and technicians. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of Engineering Department to design, process, project, develop, produce, improve, and test components, products, systems, and services, while achieving optimum use of workers, equipment, materials, and facilities. Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. Analyzes technology, resource needs, and market demand to plan and assess the feasibility of projects. Plans and establishes engineering schedules, and follows up performance against estimates. Manages development of material selection standards. Recommends and implements new policies and procedures as directed. Administers personnel functions, including recruiting, hiring, training, review and approval of job descriptions and salary classifications, selection and placement of personnel, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments. Initiates cost reduction proposals from other sources, compiles appropriate information, makes recommendations for action, and checks on results obtained. Prepares and controls department budget, forecasts operating costs of department, and directs preparation of budget requests. Ensures compliance of company policies, procedures, and objectives regarding processes, initiatives, and projects.
