Childrens Aid Society Director:
Directs a Children's Aid Society organization with the goal of ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of children and families and providing each child with the support and opportunities needed to become a happy, healthy, and productive adult. Oversees the day-to-day organization, future planning, direction, and operation of the organization. Plans, develops, and administers comprehensive case plans and programs of the organization. Implements short- and long-range plans, and ensures the development and achievement of the objectives of the organization's annual service plan. Monitors the effectiveness of plans through case management. Confers with administrative personnel to decide scope of programs being offered.

Uses effective assessment, interviewing, relationship building, problem solving, and organizational skills. Ensures the organization's standard of service is consistent with the requirements of the Child Welfare Act. Identifies needed policies and procedures, and ensures development and preparation of policy proposals to the board for consideration. Ensures the consistent implementation of mandatory and board approved policies and procedures across departments, units, or branches. Ensures compliance with relevant legislation and terms of Collective Agreement. Keeps up-to-date with child welfare developments. Represents the interest of the organization within the community. Ensures the development and maintenance of effective community relations with competent staff. Ensures mandatory services are delivered consistently and within time frames required by law and the policies of the organization. Promotes the development of new services. Acts as a liaison between staff and the board. Keeps the board appropriately informed of issues which affect the agency's services, policies, and/or procedures. Provides consultation to management regarding contentious issues and case situations. Supervises management staff and provides advice, support, evaluation of work in progress, assignments, and feedback as needed.
