Sells and promotes products, systems, and services requiring technical knowledge of engineering and/or science and cost effectiveness using either inbound or outbound telephone calls, electronic media, and direct mail to selected customers and prospects.
Prospects and develops relationships with potential customers, or leads, to cultivate new business. Calls on management representatives to convince them of the desirability and practicability of products and services offered. Initiates sales calls to existing customers to assess the need for replenishing inventories. Follows up on leads from trade shows and other corporate marketing efforts. Works with customers and production engineering to determine how products or services could be designed or modified to best suit customers' needs. Demonstrates to potential customers how and why products and services would suit customer needs better than competitors products. Develops and prepares financial and operational estimates. Proposes changes in equipment or use of materials resulting in cost reduction or operational improvement. Reports on market changes affecting company products and services.
