Installs solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on buildings according to site assessment and design.
Selects and diagrams suitable layouts and locations with proper orientation, sufficient area, adequate solar access, and structural integrity for installing PV array and other components. Interprets solar radiation, temperature, and electrical load data in order to establish performance expectations, and make electrical system calculations. Establishes appropriate system designs based on customer needs, expectations, and site conditions. Identifies mechanical design, equipment to be used, and installation plan consistent with the environmental, architectural, structural, code requirements, and other conditions of the site. Adapts electrical designs as needed. Installs subsystems, modules, panels, support structures, and other components using drawings, schematics, and instructions. Labels, installs, and terminates electrical wiring. Checks system mechanical installation for structural integrity and weather sealing. Activates system and verifies overall system functionality. Maintains and troubleshoots the system as part of a warranty or through service contract. May provide training on the operation and maintenance of the system. (Source: eDOT Job Description)
