Recruits, trains, schedules and coordinates volunteers for hospice programs. This position typically requires a college degree and related work experience.

Recruits, trains, schedules and coordinates volunteers for hospice programs. Maintains regular contact with patient/family support volunteers to discuss volunteers’ interactions with patients/families. Assesses volunteer’s working relationship with other team members. Keeps volunteers informed of any changes in the patient’s condition and plan of care while ensuring timely documentation by volunteers. Offers support to volunteers and provides additional information and resources to volunteers as needed. Consults with administrators and staff to determine organization needs for various volunteer services and plan for volunteer recruitment. Attends and participates in professional and community meetings to recruit interested parties for volunteer service. Creates volunteer job descriptions. Interviews, screens, and refers applicants to appropriate assignments. Orients and trains volunteers prior to assignment. Serves as liaison between administration, staff, and volunteers. Establishes positive working relationships with staff members and volunteers and reconciles personnel problems. Develops and provides written protocols to volunteers. Participates in fund-raising activities. Schedules and coordinates volunteer recognition and appreciation events. This position typically requires a college degree and related work experience.
