Performs mycoplasma isolation and identification for all animal species. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in animal science, biology, or microbiology and one year of microbiological or immunological laboratory work experience.
Prepares the media and reagents related to mycoplasma isolation, identification and sensitivity tests. Maintains records of the bacteria repository system. Dispenses and stores conjugate. Maintains quality control organisms and mycoplasma cultures. Maintains freezer inventory. Performs acid fast staining, PCR, and bacteria serological identification assay, as needed.
