Nuclear Medicine Supervisor:
Supervises and coordinates the work of Nuclear Medicine Technologists engaged in performing radiologic procedures with radioisotopes. Plans and schedules work for the department, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space, and facilities for performance of duties. Typically requires a degree in health sciences with five years of experience in nuclear medicine. Registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Board and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is usually also required.
Supervises and coordinates the work of Nuclear Medicine Technologists engaged in performing radiologic procedures with radioisotopes. Supervises, coordinates, and participates in technical activities to include in vivo and in vitro studies, the calculation of results, and the maintenance, review, and application of computer programs. Plans and schedules work for the department, ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate manning, space, and facilities for performance of duties. Monitors the preparation of radiopharmaceuticals. Develops and implements quality assurance programs relating to calibration and maintenance of equipment. Develops, recommends, and implements new procedures and techniques to improve patient care. Assists in the technological development of research programs. Provides for proper nursing care for patients in all areas of the laboratory. Maintains liaison with physicians, research personnel, and staff to resolve problems and to provide advice concerning nuclear medicine procedures, techniques, and equipment. Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates outcomes of the department's procedures. Works closely with the Staff Physician to ensure that technological services are provided in an efficient and effective manner. Ensures that radioisotopes are available to meet departmental needs. Prepares and manages the departmental budget. Hires, develops, and motivates a qualified nuclear medical staff. May provide instruction to nuclear medicine technology students.
