Research Manager:
Manages and heads a variety of continuous and ad hoc research projects. Researches data, products, processes, and/or services for the purpose of improving said data, products, processes, and/or services. Contributes to discussions in meetings with management and/or clients, when appropriate, to determine project purpose and research needs. Designs research proposals, including decisions on methodology, target, geographic quotas, timing, etc. Leads a research team in the organization and monitors field staff and other elements necessary for completion.

Attends qualitative research sessions, taking notes and developing a point-of-view from the findings. Maintains fluidity in arguments for both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Reviews and evaluates research results and makes appropriate recommendations to management. Ensures research reports meet the purpose of the project and are strategically sound in application for the client or management. Analyzes and writes reports for research projects, including the detailed responses to questions brought up during project, as well as the strategic summaries and conclusions most applicable for the specific project. Keeps management informed on progress of projects. Liaises with other departments to ensure staff has the relevant tools for their jobs including the appropriate training for their position and experience. Develops and monitors project budgets and schedules. Controls research expenditures within approved budget limitations. Conducts internal training courses with junior staff and advises and coaches junior staff on research design, methodologies, sampling, project management, and client liaison. Handles recruitment, selection, and ongoing development of the research team, including succession planning, i.e., advising the Research Director and/or Finance Director of future resource requirements and associated budgets.
