Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist:
Records and studies electrical activity in the brain and nervous system.
Takes medical history of the patient and documents the patient’s clinical condition. Obtains interpretable recordings of patients’ nervous system function by performing diagnostic procedures to include electroencephalography (EEG), evoked potential (EP), polysomnography (PSG), nerve conduction studies, and intraoperative monitoring. Applies adequate recording electrodes to ensure optimal use of equipment. Manages medical emergencies in the laboratory. Prepares a descriptive report of recorded activity obtained in the diagnostic procedure for interpretation by a physician. Works with physicians, clinicians, medical researchers, and other health professionals. This position typically requires an Associate’s degree or completion of a 1-2 year accredited program. May be involved in diagnosing and monitoring patients with epilepsy or sleep disorders. May be required to be on-call for emergencies and intraoperative monitoring.
