Designs the layout of all types of plumbing systems including domestic water, fire protection systems, sanitary sewer, venting, drainage systems, natural gas, compressed air, fueling, industrial waste, flammable liquids, acid waste, and grease waste, using CAD and industrial or commercial project expertise.

Provides plumbing design and drafting support to select project teams under the supervision of a Senior Plumbing Designer or the Department Head. Studies engineering tables to determine size of pipes and pumps required to maintain specified flow rate. Selects or recommends materials and equipment required for plumbing projects, including size and type of pipes, plumbing fixtures, water heaters, interceptors, drains, and pumps. Coordinates plumbing work with other disciplines including architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Communicates with local authorities and utilities companies.
