Manages, plans, and coordinates procurement, distribution, and servicing of medical equipment and DME staff. This position is frequently found within a Hospice organization but may be found in other health care settings. Typically requires five years of experience in materials management or durable medical equipment.
Plans, develops, and implements systems for managing purchasing, distribution, and servicing of medical equipment. Oversees medical equipment negotiations for individual purchase and continuing contractual relationships. Supervises personnel who order, receive, distribute, and service purchased items. Hires, develops, and motivates a qualified staff to provide durable medical equipment services. Develops, implements, and maintains effective materials systems for charging items durable medical equipment used in patient care. Plans, coordinates, and administers the operational, financial, administrative, and technical operations of the Durable Medical Equipment department. Works collaboratively with nursing and staff to develop and maintain programs and processes designed to ensure compliance of service delivery standards. Develops and monitors the department budget.
