Assists the Admissions Director of a college, university, or technical school in the sales aspects of the admissions process, which includes explaining the goals and values of the school and supplying information to prospective students about courses of study, scholarships and financial aid, admissions requirements, and campus life.
Visits high schools, technical schools, and community colleges to encourage freshman and transfer applicants and to arrange interviews. Interviews prospective students to obtain interest, education history, training, and possible job skills and to answer questions about the educational facilities and the opportunities it offers. Listens, recognizes, and analyzes the needs of prospective students in order to provide them with the educational solutions for their career needs, and refers them to appropriate individuals for advice about courses of study, financial aid and scholarships, or other specialized information. Assists prospective students in enrollment process for specific classes and programs. Assists in the planning and implementation of programs and activities designed for student recruitment and retention. Conducts research to develop a profile of those students attracted to the college, analyzes the effectiveness of recruiting techniques, and studies the expectations of incoming students.
