Supervises, coordinates, and partakes in daily activities of the registration staff in pre-admission, registration of inpatients and outpatients in hospital or other medical facility, insurance verification, reception, cashiering, and preparation of required records. Oversees employees who interview patient or patient's representative to obtain necessary personal, financial, and insurance data and to determine eligibility for admission.

Confers with physicians, nursing, housekeeping, transport, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule admission of patients. Assigns accommodations based on physician's admittance orders, patient's preference, nature of illness, availability of space, and other information. Prepares records of admission, transfer, and other required data. Notifies appropriate departments of patient's admission. Reviews work of interviewers and other clerical personnel. Compiles and keeps records of admissions and discharges, and compiles occupancy-census data.
