Manages the day-to-day operations and personnel of a laboratory that processes umbilical cord blood. Oversees blood cord processing, storage, testing, and reporting, ensuring adherence to lab and regulatory requirements.

Manages the collection and prompt delivery of the correct specimen to the lab. Ensures timely processing and storage of all cord blood units. Identifies and recommends improvements in processing and storage of cord blood units. Oversees quality testing and reporting of results within established turnaround times, ensuring adherence to documented procedures and protocols. Maintains a safe and clean working environment in the lab. Investigates and implements solutions to problems beyond the scope of the Senior Technologist. Resolves issues affecting the efficient and accurate performance of the laboratory. Reviews and reports results as needed. Suggests equipment, supply, and resource needs for day-to-day operations as well as long-term planning. Performs all duties assigned to supervisory personnel including performance reviews, personnel discussions, hiring, promotion and termination decisions etc. May act as a blood cord donor resource and support activities associated with donor recruitment and educational efforts.
