Respiratory Therapy Supervisor RRT:
Supervises, performs, evaluates, and coordinates diagnostic and therapeutic clinical respiratory care procedures. Performs all duties and responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist by assuming responsibility for all respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. Requires completion of a four-year, advanced-level respiratory therapy program, registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), and three years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
Coordinates all emergency responses and develops clinical care protocols. Evaluates patient care plans and performs assessment of endotracheal tube placement. Provides orientation, education, and training as needed to Respiratory Services staff. Reviews performance of all staff members and develops performance plans and professional goals. Instructs and supervises patient and therapeutic assessments to assure optimal medical decisions. Monitors adherence to policy, procedures, and practice guidelines. Assists with departmental clinical research projects. Maintains appropriate supply inventory. Provides input into applicant hiring and termination decisions. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently. Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.
