Promotes books and authors to the media and to the public. Generates, executes, and manages book publicity for clients. Creates publicity strategies and implements successful media campaigns for books. Manages, develops, and implements the organization's or client's marketing and publicity campaigns.
Meets with clients to gather information, participates in long-term planning, and makes recommendations for creating media opportunities. Brainstorms creative ideas for capturing media attention. Develops strong press materials, including writing, organizing, maintaining, and releasing press packets and other promotional materials. Creates and maintains targeted media lists. Strategizes, pitches stories to a wide range of media outlets, and coordinates media outreach, integrated communications planning, and special events that will generate ongoing positive publicity. Secures long-lead and short-lead media for specific books. Develops and strengthens relationships with authors and the media. Plans and coordinates interviews for authors and prepares well-crafted talking points. Organizes book tours and events. Keeps authors and in-house people up to date on progress of projects. May execute online publicity campaigns for a variety of books, performing online research, pitching to Web editors and bloggers, arranging and coordinating online author interviews, and creating reports and updates for the clients.
