Provides executive leadership, develops, coordinates and evaluates education programs and operational activities for a School of Nursing. Participates in establishing qualifications for faculty, staff, and students and in recruiting eligible candidates. Maintains student records of educational experience and achievement. May arrange student living accommodations, and social and recreational opportunities. Serves on hospital, nursing education, and nursing organization committees and acts as a liaison to other departments, agencies and schools of nursing to facilitate information sharing, collaborative problem-solving, and adequate provision of support services. Resolves problems encountered by faculty members, students and other personnel. Develops objectives and goals, staffing patterns, annual budgets, operational processes, physical facility requirements, and equipment and supply needs for the School of Nursing. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of educational operations and submits reports to management. Responsible for the professional nursing education program planning process and coordinates professional school program development through appropriate planning, analysis, and development. Evaluates nursing education program effectiveness to promote competence. Reviews student applications for the professional nursing program and participates in the interviewing and selection of students. Participates in planning curriculum content and sequences and oversees the preparation of teaching schedules. Oversees the maintenance of student records. Interacts with community and public interest groups concerning nursing education and promotes positive public relations and understanding of the professional school program. Works with the Board of Nursing to ensure that the School of Nursing remains in compliance with standards for professional excellence.
