Provides executive leadership, develops, coordinates and evaluates education programs and operational activities for a School of Nursing. Directs and administers educational program in school of nursing assists in preparation of budget, and administers program within budgetary limitations. Defines and interprets aims and policies of school. Interviews and appoints faculty and administrative staff. Participates in planning curriculums and schedule of instruction. Participates in establishing qualifications for faculty, staff, and students and in recruiting eligible candidates. Arranges with hospital and other institutions and agencies for students to use their facilities, under faculty supervision, for clinical experience. Maintains student records of educational experience and achievement. May arrange student living accommodations, and social and recreational opportunities. May advise institutions on educational problems. Provides executive leadership, develops, coordinates and evaluates education programs and operational activities for a School of Nursing. Develops, coordinates and evaluates nursing programs and operations. Determines the effectiveness of operations and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Negotiates and coordinates contractual arrangements and resolution of operational problems. Assists in defining the structure and infrastructure for the school and evaluates effectiveness of support systems. Serves on hospital, nursing education, and nursing organization committees and acts as a liaison to other departments, agencies and schools of nursing to facilitate information sharing, collaborative problem-solving, and adequate provision of support services. Resolves problems encountered by faculty members, students and other personnel. Develops objectives and goals, staffing patterns, annual budgets, operational processes, physical facility requirements, and equipment and supply needs for the School of Nursing. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of educational operations and submits reports to management. Responsible for the professional nursing education program planning process and coordinates professional school program development through appropriate planning, analysis, and development. Evaluates nursing education program effectiveness to promote competence. Reviews student applications for the professional nursing program and participates in the interviewing and selection of students. Participates in planning curriculum content and sequences and oversees the preparation of teaching schedules. Oversees the maintenance of student records. Interacts with community and public interest groups concerning nursing education and promotes positive public relations and understanding of the professional school program. Works with the Board of Nursing to ensure that the School of Nursing remains in compliance with standards for professional excellence. Coordinates the school of nursing budget planning process and monitors, analyzes, and responds to budget variances. May supervise the recruitment of students and recommend tuition and fees. [-] Less

This position typically requires completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Certification program. Assists nurses by performing various basic care activities related to services essential to caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients in a skilled nursing facility. Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care in a skilled nursing facility by performing the following functions for patients dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, taking vital signs, providing oral care, providing nail care, providing catheter care, answering call lights, assisting patients in wheel chairs, transporting patients, turning bedridden patients, reporting patient changes, and filling linens. This position typically requires completion of an approved Nursing Assistant Certification program. Promptly answers patient call bells. Bathes and dresses bed patients, combs hair, and otherwise attends to their comfort and personal appearance. Cleans room and changes bed linen. Takes and records temperature, pulse, and respiration rate. Gives medication as directed by Physician or Nurse and makes notation of amount and time given. Gives enemas, douches, massages, and alcohol rubs. Applies hot and cold compresses and hot water bottles. Sterilizes equipment and supplies, using germicides, sterilizer, or autoclave and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Observes patients for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to appropriate licensed nursing personnel.
