Job Description:
Manages and oversees packaging activities of department engaged in meeting specific marketing, production, shipping, and cost requirements. Reviews production orders to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and other packaging requirements. Determines appropriate materials and containers to be used for packaging. Decides specific equipment or machinery to use for operation of specific packaging. Oversees inspection of products prior to packaging and return of rejected products to production departments. Observes packaging operations and inspects containers to verify conformance to specifications: Works with maintenance department to ensure efficient operation of packaging machinery. Approves requisition of containers and other supplies for delivery to workstations. Monitors production schedules. Determines priority and sequence of operations. Inspects work in progress and completed to ensure conformance to specifications. Keeps and monitors records of work in process. Evaluates and assists in the development and implementation of organization policies, practices, procedures, and attainment of operating goals. Ensures adequate training of staff and employee compliance to organization's policies and practices. Organizes resources to ensure effective production of goods.
